Srinagar is a very beautiful city
which is in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and once you visit it you will be stunned with its natural scenic beauty. The first timer tourists to this heavenly place called it “Paradise on Earth” and it is here that many Bollywood films have been shot. Srinagar is a home city for charming and warm people.  

WHAT TO DO IN SRINAGAR 

SHIKARA RIDES: Once you are in Srinagar it is a must to visit the Dal Lake and here you can choose to sit in the house boats which are available for several hundred rupees (depends on how well you bargain), accompanied by a boatman who will row you for hours together across the Nagin Lake.

MOSQUES AND SHRINES: Datagir Sahib Shrine (250 year old),Makhdoom Sahib Shrine (set on a hill) and Shah Hamid Shrine (built in 1395) are the most famous shrines and mosques with extravagant architectural work which are best to be photographed and so are a must to be visited.



MOGHAL GARDENS: The Shalimar gardens built in the 1600s by a Moghal Emperor Jahangir for his beloved wife Nur Jahan is best known for its exquisite gardens and beautiful fountains thereby making it the best place for photographs to be clicked.

LAL CHOWK: The heart of Srinagar, Lal Chowk is a town square and surrounded with bazaars. It is situated near the Jhelum River and it is here that you can shop for the whole day and yet run out of time to shop even more.

SONAMARG: Sonmarg is a village situated on a 2740 meter high cliff and is ideal for trekking and skiing. If you want to experience snow at Srinagar then Sonmarg village is a place to visit. Thajiwas glacier is situated nearby to the village and is one of the most visited tourist spots.

WHAT TO SHOP AT SRINAGAR
Pashmina shawls which include hand stitched embroidery are very famous and so tourists make it a point to buy it as a representation of visiting Srinagar.
Papier mache boxes, vases, statues, tables in various shapes and sizes are a must to be bought from Srinagar as they are durable and painted with beautiful floral and abstract designs which are available at affordable prices.
Woolen and silk Carpets of Srinagar are the best creations as it will definitely add that edge to the interiors of your houses.

WHERE TO EAT IN SRINAGAR

Ahdoo’s Hotel and Restaurant is most famous for the Mutton Rogan Josh and Baked Naan. You can also have other tasty lamb dish like the Gushtaba here. And the very famous dessert that is the Phirini is just amazing and extremely delicious.
Peak view Hotel and Restaurant Is best known for all types of Indian Cuisine.
Mummy please Restaurant is most famous for Wazwan Biryani thereby being Kashmir’s most meaty meal. The other specialties include various vegetable, lamb dishes and desserts.
However do not miss to have the Kashmiri Naan and Tea (Kawa) which is available at the local bazaars.

BEST TIME TO VISIT SRINAGAR
 Summer season is considered to be the best to visit Srinagar that is in the months of April to October as it becomes freezing during the winters.
